True Avant-Garde Hi Tech Company from 1290
Omodeo Tasso (1245 est - 1309)
founded a courrier service operating from Camera Cornello
a small settlement on the Brimbo river
in the Italian Alps.
Omodeo and his team
created a messanger service
between the Alps, Venice and Milano.


The settlement still exisits.
A Postal Museum invites travellers and tech fans to visit.


Many generations later
1490 Francisco Tasso / Franz von Taxis (1459 - 1517)
created the first transnational postal network
in the territories of Emperor Maximilian I von Habsburg)
The new headquater of his operations became Brussels
(Habsburg Netherlands).
Nephew Johann Baptista von Taxis / Giovanni Battista Tassis (1470 - 1541)
continued and expanded the Postal network
supporting both gov correspondance and private letters.
The company continued with
son Leonhard von Taxis (1521 - 1612)
grandson Lamoral von Taxis (1557 - 1624)
great-grandson Leonard II von Taxis (1594-1628)
2x great-grandson Lamoral Claudius von Thurn and Taxis (1621-1676)
3x great-grandson Eugen-Alexander, 1st Prince von Thurn and Taxis (1652-1714)

With each generation
The Thurn and Taxis network grew,
exept for the territories ruled by the Bourbons, the Kings of France.
The Bourbons were the eternal rivals of the Habsburgs.

France was missing in the network

Anselm Franz von Thurn and Taxis (1681 - 1739)
was Postmaster General of the Thurn and Taxis Postal operations
based in Brussels and Frankfurt.


Anselm Franz connected with Louis Leon Pajot (1678 - 1754)
Pajot was a confident of the 3rd Bourbon King Louis XIV

The two grandfathers Louis I Pajot and Leon Rouillé
had founded a French Postal network
based in the former Hotel de Villeroy Bourbon VB.
VB was an old mansion in the heart of Paris
that was a the former home of Nicolas V de Villeroy,
tutor and teacher of Louis XIV.

Louis Leon Pajot and Anselm Franz Thurn and Taxis
had a passionate relation,
admiring each other
and arguing about postal rates at the same time.
They needed each other for international mail
as they did not have the same postal network.
